New Auction House to Offer Rare Coloured Gemstones

Coloured gemstone mining veteran Dev Shetty has launched a new auction house Jemora Gemhouse (JGH), dedicated to rare, polished coloured gemstones.

JGH, part of UAE-headquartered company Gaston Group, is designed to redefine the gemstone market by bridging the gap between coloured gemstone owners and an exclusive network of buyers. The auction house aims to establish a sanctuary for the world's rarest gemstones, said the company.

In the past, Shetty played a key role in the turnaround of Gemfields by developing their emerald and ruby mines. He also founded Fura Gems, the company mining emeralds, rubies, and sapphires globally. Led by Shetty, JGH has a team of expert gemmologists responsible for meticulously sourcing, valuing, and appraising gemstones. JGH will offer collectors, luxury brands, and trade partners access to some of the world's most exquisite, rare and valuable collections of polished coloured gems, said JGH.

Each gemstone will be certified by laboratories, including American Gemological Laboratories (AGL), GRS GemResearch Swisslab, Gübelin Gem Lab, and Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF.

JGH is set to hold the inaugural auction during 17-19 March 2025 at Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC)’s Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE). It will feature a collection of sapphires from renowned origins such as Kashmir, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka, offering sapphires in different categories, such as blue, pink, Padparadschas, and yellow sapphires.

“Our inaugural auction promises to be a milestone event, featuring once-in-a-lifetime collections that are simply irreplaceable. I want to thank the team at Jemora Gemhouse for working very hard to assemble this exquisite collection, and DMCC for hosting this launch at its world-class facility in the Dubai Diamond Exchange,” said Shetty.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman and CEO of DMCC, said: “Recent record-breaking tenders for emeralds, rubies and sapphires are a testament to our growth as the hub of choice for the global coloured gemstone market. We are delighted to launch Jemora Gemhouse and look forward to working with Dev Shetty as we continue to facilitate access and drive trade growth through the UAE for some of the world’s most remarkable, coloured gemstones.”
