Christie’s Hong Kong magnificent jewellery sale on 25 November 2014 fetched a total of HK$733.4 million. A ring set with a heart-shaped fancy red diamond sold at HK$39.3 million has set a world record price of over HK$18.8 million per carat. It is also the most expensive red diamond ever sold at auction, said Vickie Sek, deputy chairman of Christie’s Asia and director of Christie’s jewellery and jadeite department.
The top three lots were a cushion Burmese ruby and diamond brooch by Cartier (photo), a pair of jadeite cabochon ear studs and an oval vivid blue IF diamond ring by Moussaieff, sold for HK$65 million, HK51.6 million and HK$44.9 million respectively.
