Paul Wild OHG, Germany was founded in 1927. Today, the company is one of the most successful gemstone lapidaries and trading houses in the world. Owning a workshop in Idar-Oberstein, Paul Wild focuses on unique high quality gemstone design and cutting. Seeing the largest growth potential for coloured gemstones in the Asian market, the company is strengthening its presence in mainland China especially in Beijing and Shanghai.
Paul Wild launched a subsidiary company Splendid Treasure Ltd in Beijing in 2012. According to the China country manager Tatajana Li, the demand for untreated stones is still growing in mainland China. She said: “In order to diversify the demand, we have spent a long and hard time to educate consumers and our clients by telling them that the number of extremely rare exceptions will never meet the market demand and it is exactly the natural inclusions that gives gemstones individuality.”
“In the past few years, jewellery from all over the world tended to gain more colours again,” she also commented. From unique high quality gemstones to quantity orders of standard-sized gemstones, the company offers over 90 gemstone varieties. She noted: “We also saw increasing affluent customers seeking unique and alternative main stones for diamond and jadeite jewellery in China market. Meanwhile, we take customer education seriously because in the future, the market will definitely offer more opportunities. ”
Currently, the company is in cooperation with leading universities in research and development. The patented machine OptoGem is a fully automated gemstone cutting robot. “OptoGem first uses an optical measurement process to gauge the rough stone and calculates the ideal cut, form and size. The results are highly accurate. Meanwhile, the machine optimises the utilisation of the material,” she explained.
Sonja Kreis runs a family business specialized in designing and manufacturing unique gemstone jewellery. Standing for precision,quality and design innovation, the company makes each gemstone unique. Each gemstone is cut to unveil crystalline beauty or the striking inclusions.
The gemstone cutter and designer of the company, Alexander Kreis told Hong Kong Jewellery: “I follow my visions and interpret the beauty in different ways. We deliver personal services including consultation, product presentation and quality certification, in order to give our clients better understanding and trust of our creations.”
Kreis works with different kinds of gemstones including tourmaline, beryl, amethyst, rutilated quartz, aquamarine,tanzanite and Oregon Sunston. He commented: “Today consumers want something new and extraordinary. Their education has gone a long way from our preconceived notion. Except for the value differences between semi-precious and precious gemstones, they also understand how the design adds value to a gemstone.”
Learning that there is a rising demand for unique gemstones in the Asian market, the company has set marketing strategies for further exploration. “We are following the values of integrity, security, trust and uniqueness.
