Hong Kong designer Carmen Chan gained attention in both jewellery and art industry recently. She launched her eponymous brand Carmen Chan couture jewellery and accessory in February 2013. Her high sense of self identity and design theory attribute to imperfection ensouling the brand with distinctive style.
She told Hong Kong Jewellery:“I graduated with economy degree and gained marketing working experience. All I found is that I never lose the passion for art and design. They have been keeping for so long in my heart. I started focusing on brand establishment in 2012 and targeting certain types of consumers by personalised designs.” Currently, Carmen Chan jewellery is sold in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Mainland China.
Chan involves urban fashion into fine jewellery design by keeping her jewellery with distinctive rough features. She said: “I like to use the gemstones with inclusions, for example, I use gemstones with needle like inclusions for Universe Collection. Such gemstones matching with unpolished gold surface tend to interpret the originality of our nature.”
“Through my jewellery, I also hope to deliver a message to the modern young ladies. Living in the metropolis, all our independent thoughts and exceptional courage accomplish our unique characteristics, which needs to be celebrated,” she concluded.
