Established in March 2014, ECOS represents a synthesis of craftsmanship, creativity and green entrepreneurship. Endorsing environmental sustainability, the Italian jewellery brand collects gold, silver, bronze and wood scraps from industrial waste for jewellery production. Alberto Zampieri and Leonardo Pivato, CEO and co-founder of ECOS said their team wishes to propose a new conception of ‘made in Italy’ to the world. Their jewellery, composed of precious metals and wood carvings, combines the craftsmanship of silversmiths and goldsmiths in Vicenza and the talents of wood carving experts in Treviso. The idea is to fully utilise the resources and the capacity of the different regions in Italy to realise a holistic process of recycling and upcycling. Their goal is to respect the environment in all aspects of production including packaging, display and catalogue.
ECOS features five types of wood in their jewellery collections: mahogany, cherry, ash, oak and walnut. Each type of wood is represented by a unique carving pattern and is assigned a distinct character, such as cherry for romantic and oak for bold personality, to attract customers. Caudex® (a combination of wood scraps and cellulose) packages made with five types of wood are available for gifting purposes.
The brand is now selling in 32 outlets in Italy. As for other markets, Pivato said: “The brand is growing day by day. Just now we are in an agreement with a distributor in Spain and it is the same case in Japan. We would like to sell worldwide in a few years.”
