Under the strong influences of Asian antiques, Stéphanie Deydier has a flair for Asian symbols and their cultural significances. She paid tribute to the Chinese and Japanese cultures by launching the Les Legendes D’Yazhou collection right after the introduction of DS, her maiden jewellery line in 2011. The adorable interpretation of national figures and her heart to fine jewellery have soon won the Parisian designer generous international media coverage.
Among the chart-topping designs are the 18-karat gold panda and kokeshi (Japanese dolls) lines set with diamonds, coloured sapphires, rubies, and other coloured stones including Paraiba tourmalines, garnets, spinels and aquamarines. “Everything is made in Paris, original and unique. When you put heart into your work, people can feel it,” says Deydier.
The fast-moving designer is currently immersing herself in the next collection inspired by another dynamic culture - Russia. She told Hong Kong Jewellery: “Last year I went to Moscow where I was deeply impressed by the national hallmarks such as the Russian dolls, Fabergé eggs and cathedrals.” Deydier finds her clients mostly from Mainland China, Russia, and the United States. To weave a broader retail network in Asia, she has plans to partner with more galleries in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
