HRD Antwerp, Europe’s leading authority in diamond certification, has relocated its Hong Kong office to the premises of Hong Kong Indian Diamond Association (HKIDA). The official opening was held on 21 April 2016.
Inauguration of the new office was attended by government officials from Belgium and India, the HKIDA management and diamond jewellery companies.
HRD Antwerp has recently signed an MOU with HKIDA concerning the screening of melee diamond parcels using M-Screen which is said to be the world’s fastest melee screening device available today.
“In addition to the introduction of the highly-anticipated melee screening service, the relocation of our Hong Kong operations to the HKIDA premises, is a sound move forward towards strengthening our local presence,” said Peter Macken, CEO of HRD Antwerp.
Ramesh Virani, president of HKIDA expressed: “As HKIDA’s aim is to safeguard consumer confidence throughout the diamond industry while protecting the natural diamond trade, the service agreement concerning the use of the M-Screen is a great step forward in offering our members the tool they need to make absolutely sure their melee diamond parcels are free of lab-grown diamonds.”
“This collaboration is one more step forward showing the unity between India and Belgium, and we believe that this will further improve our business links with each other,” Virani added.
