The 12th China International Gold, Jewellery & Gem Fair will be held 18-21 November 2016 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, China.
Positioned itself as the key year-end jewellery trade in eastern China, the Shanghai fair this year is co-organised by UBM Asia, Shanghai NIU International Exhibition Co Ltd and Shanghai Gem & Jade Industry Development Co Ltd. The tandem is a result of a strategic alliance formed with the China National Light Industry Council and the Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Commission with the support from the Shanghai municipal government.
Six new special pavilions will feature a wide range of arts & crafts and luxury watches under the banners of the Beijing Arts and Crafts Association, the Guangzhou Light Industry Arts and Crafts Enterprise, the Hunan Embroidery Research Institute, the Shanghai Gem and Jade Trading Center Co Ltd, the Shanghai Timepiece Trade Association, and the Shanghai Jade Carving Culture Association.
Other new elements include a series of concurrent events such as a jewellery design competition, an industry summit and O2O shopping festivals.
According to UBM Asia, China’s biggest commercial centre Shanghai has led the nation as far as lifestyle is concerned. The city has a large population of high-net-worth individuals who have developed a sophisticated taste for luxury goods. In 2014, the city saw retail sales of consumer goods, including jewellery, reach 870 billion yuan. Jewellery consumption remains robust to this day.
Shanghai has evolved to be the region’s trading hub thanks to its proximity to the major population centres in China. Its well-developed infrastructure and comprehensive business facilities make it the ideal city to host the Shanghai fair, the organiser said.
