The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, the world’s premier fine jewellery show, is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2017. The seven-day event will be held at two venues dedicated to different product categories: AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) for jewellery raw materials and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) for finished jewellery and equipment. A total of over 3,600 exhibitors from 55 countries and regions will unveil their latest creations at the fair.
Organised by UBM Asia Ltd, the show will be held during 13-17 September at AWE and 15-19 September at HKCEC.
Over 1,700 gemstone suppliers from around the globe will gather at AWE, making it Asia’s largest gem-sourcing platform with around 500 diamond suppliers under the Diamond Pavilion, over 700 gemstone exhibitors with the Gemstone Pavilion and over 200 pearl dealers in the Pearl Pavilion. In Hall 9, the Fine Gem Pavilion will house over 50 renowned international fine gem suppliers.
Besides gemstones pavilions, the show also houses 26 group pavilions including the Natural Color Diamond Association Pavilion, the Hong Kong Indian Diamond Association Pavilion, the International Colored Gemstone Association Pavilion, and those organised by countries and regions namely Antwerp, Brazil, mainland China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
New to the September fair, the Core Pavilion features over 60 Hong Kong-based jewellery companies who have supported the jewellery and gem fairs in Hong Kong in the past years and considered Hong Kong as the platform from which they grow their business. The pavilion is located in Halls 1C to E at HKCEC.
Other themed pavilion at HKCEC are the Fine Design Pavilion, the International Premier Pavilion and the Packaging, Tools & Equipment Pavilion.
In order to give buyers extra assurance about the diamonds offered at the show, show organiser launched the ‘Declaration Programme on Exhibits of Natural Diamonds’ scheme in the September fair in 2016. The same programme will be continued in 2017 under the support from the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK), the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) and the Hong Kong Indian Diamond Association (HKIDA). Diamond exhibitors at Hall 5, 7, 9 and 11 at AWE, who are members of recognised diamond trade associations and make a declaration that they supply and exhibit only natural diamonds during the fair, will display an authorised poster issued by UBM Asia on their booths identifying them as natural diamond suppliers.
Two auctions, the Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction and the Paspaley Pearl Auction, will be held concurrently with the fair.
Special events including seminars, jewellery parades and cocktail receptions will be scheduled to offer visitors more learning and networking opportunities. (Photo courtesy: UBM Asia)
