SOTHEBY’S Hong Kong 2018 magnificent jewel and jadeite spring sale dated 3 April realised a total of HK$382 million (US$48.6 million); over 60 percent of lots were sold.
Claimed the top lot was an important and spectacular ring set with a 24.7-carat cushion-shaped Burmese ruby and diamonds which fetched HK$86.4 million. A pair of 18-karat white gold diamond pendant earrings each set with a pear-shaped diamond of 13.01 and 12.97 carats was sold for HK$23.2 million. A rare Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet set with gemstones and diamonds achieved HK$9.4 million. “While the Jadeite market remains price sensitive, solitaire diamonds and design pieces continue to enjoy solid support across price tiers,” said Quek Chin Yeow, deputy chairman of Sotheby’s Asia and chairman of international jewellery, Asia.
