JCK Las Vegas sees optimism

The 2018 JCK Las Vegas and Luxury ended on 4 June with an optimistic mood, said Reed Exhibitions, the organiser.

Held at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino for the last time, the two shows attracted more than 30,000 visitors from 110 countries and regions to view the all-encompassing selections of jewellery, gemstones, watches, technology and services brought by over 2,300 exhibitors.

Yancy Weinrich, Reed Jewelry Group senior vice president, said: “The mood was clear; from both retailers and exhibitors alike, it was optimism.” She pointed out that innovation, adaptation, broadening consumer landscape, synthetic diamonds, De Beers and sustainability were among the buzzwords permeated the fairs.

Big highlights of the show included the Industry Trends Breakfast where an industry report reveals a positive outlook towards the future of the jewellery industry and the key challenges felt by the trade. A talk on synthetic diamonds presented by De Beers identified the consumer demand for diamonds that are both accessibly priced and traceable. The annual Rapaport breakfast on the state of the diamond industry, the sessions organised by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) together with over 70 networking and educational events offered discussion and learning opportunities to trade practitioners.

In 2019, JCK Las Vegas and Luxury will move to the newly-renovated Sands Expo and The Venetian. The move, the changes and innovations are shaped by customer input and insight, said event vice president JCK and Luxury Sarin Bachmann. (Photo courtesy:
