Christie’s New York magnificent jewels sale held on 5 December 2018 realised a total of US$69 million. The auction was led by a Bulgari blue diamond ring (photo) sold for over US$18 million.
The cushion-cut fancy vivid blue diamond ring of 8.08 carats is among the world’s finest blue diamonds ever to have come to market, said Christie’s. Other highlights of the New York sale included a heart-shaped fancy intense pink diamond pendant necklace of 15.56 carats sold for US$9.5 million, the Tube diamond bracelet by Suzanne Belperron which achieved US$852,500, an auction record for the designer.
The auction concluded Christie’s global jewellery auction of the year, with the landmark sales included The Winston Pink Legacy sold in Geneva for US$50 million, setting a world auction record price per carat for a pink diamond. The Peacock Necklace at the Hong Kong sale sold for nearly US$15 million also set a world auction record for a Kashmir sapphire necklace. (Photo courtesy: Christie’s)
