Magnificent diamonds and iconic jewels drove Sotheby’s New York magnificent jewellery auction dated 4 December 2018 to achieve US$46.4 million.
The top lot went to a Harry Winston 51.52-carat F colour IF clarity cushion-cut diamond ring sold for over US$3.9 million. An important diamond ring weighing 25.03 carats D colour flawless clarity realised nearly US$3.5 million.
The auction was highlighted by the sale of Barbara Sinatra’s personal collection which achieved US$4.7 million, with every piece sold. Led the collection was an emerald-cut 20.60-carat diamond engagement ring sold for nearly US$1.7 million. Iconic jewels from legendary brands were sought after. An exceptional 12.03-carat no-oil Colombian emerald and diamond ring from Tiffany & Co realised nearly US$1.5 million. Cartier’s star sapphire, emerald and diamond Panthère clip brooch was sold for US$387,000.
Sotheby’s worldwide jewellery sales in 2018 fetched a total of US$403.4 million.
