“Whimsical, colourful, bold designs based on nature, wildlife and mythical motifs” is how Wendy Yue describes her jewellery. In 2008, Wendy Yue created her eponymous brand in collaboration with Annoushka Ducas, founder of Links of London, and launched her first line Fantasie.
Starting from her atelier Diamond Tree in 1998, Yue managed to spend the following decade transforming her business model from original design manufacturing to original brand manufacturing.
Renowned for its intricate design, Diamond Tree always “stays true to a style with originality”, according to Yue. Yue decided to create her own brand after collaborating with various high-end brands. “I didn’t pay much attention to the brand promotion, but always jump out of the trends to keep our own style and attract clients,” Yue said to Hong Kong Jewellery.
Given her Chinese roots and western study and living experience, Yue brings eastern-meets-western design to the global stage. She explained: “Ideally, I would like my jewellery blended with eastern traditional myths and motifs with a touch of European aesthetics.” “In the past few years I have been using much of opal including black opal, green turquoise and rubelite. We will be working on more subtle floral pieces set in yellow and rose gold very soon. We are going to launch Merry-Go-Round collection very soon,” she added.
Designs carried by the finest boutiques in Europe and the United States, Yue hopes her design will attract more attention from China market in the future.
