Alrosa discovers a slightly yellowish white diamond rough weighing 191.46 carats at its Udachnaya kimberlite mine, its largest unearthed in about two and a half years. Evgeny Agureev, the company’s director of the United Sales Organisation said the rough will go to the United Selling Organization for the detailed study and evaluation.
Udachnaya pipe is Alrosa’s largest open-pit mine. The mine has gained Alrosa hundreds of large diamonds since the production commencement in 1967. Alrosa produced 36.7 million carats, a drop of seven percent yoy in 2018 due to the completion of open-pit mining at the Udachnaya pipe as well as the shutdown of the Mir underground mine.
