Organized by the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA), the first edition of METS 2014 (Machinery, Equipment, Technology and Supplies for Jewellery & Watch Industry) was successfully held in AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong between 25 and 28 June 2014. As the premier machinery and supplies exhibition exclusively for jewellery and watch industry in Hong Kong, METS 2014 aimed to provide the industry with the latest manufacturing solutions and technology exchange.
According to HKJJA, the exhibition housed nearly 100 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, China and Hong Kong. Two pavilions, Europe Pavilion and Thailand Pavilion, offered visitors advanced machinery and innovative technology for jewellery and watch production. Despite the compact scale, METS 2014 also recorded quality buyers, for example, several Hong Kong-based jewellers organized visiting groups from their factories in the mainland last Friday. Exhibitors expressed that some orders were successfully secured on-site during the show.
On 25 June 2014, the opening ceremony was officiated by HKJJA’s founder Henry Wai; President, Charles Chan, BBS, JP; Chairman, Benedict Sin, Honorary Chairman, King Li, MH; and Honorary Chairman & Director, Billy Lau. In addition, two professional seminars were hosted on 26 June. CM Poon, managing director of Anglo East Group presented audience the must-know tips on risk management for jewellery and watch industry in the first seminar while Kris Krueger, regional sales manager-Asia of Silver & Gold Co. Ltd talked about the XRF application on jewellery and watch industry in the afternoon session. Both events attracted quite a lot of attendees during the exhibition.
