De Beer’s Lightbox is putting one-carat lab-grown diamond jewellery, a white diamond pendant (photo 1), a pair of white diamond earrings (photo 2) and pink heart-shaped diamond stud earrings (photo 3) up on its online shelves.
All of them have been laser drilled for suspending on a tiny ring to produce a more lively and modern way to present jewellery according to Lightbox. The drift holes may affect clarity but it is not a concern as long as the item does not come with a grading report. The chief marketing officer Sally Morrison commented: “It’s something you could do more easily with a product that is not certed. With natural graded material it would probably change the grade.”
The one-carat solitaires have been consistently run out of e-stock. Sally Morrison said: “There is some kind of magic around that 1 ct. number.” The brand is planning to raise its one-carat-item supply.
