China Guardian HK spring sales fetch HK$370 mn

China Guardian Hong Kong’s spring auctions 2019 concluded on 31 March with a total of HK$372 million (US$48 million). Top lots of the jewellery sale included a Burmese sapphire ring and a yellow diamond ring.

The leading lot set with a 49.06-carat natural unheated Burmese cornflower blue sapphire and diamonds (photo 1) achieved HK$16.25 million, while the 27.88-carat fancy intense yellow VS1 diamond ring (photo 2) was sold for HK$10.27 million. A ‘Leaf and Cicadella’ jadeite and diamond pendant (photo 3) fetched HK$8.4 million.

The top-of-the-season lot went to Zao Wou-Ki’s ‘01.03.99’ (photo 4) from the Asian 20th century and contemporary art sale which achieved HK$37.71 million. The Chinese painting and calligraphy sales were led by Ming dynasty painter Lan Ying’s ‘Landscapes’ (photo 5) sold for HK$29.8 million. (Photo courtesy: China Guardian Hong Kong)
