Young Americans & Marriage Survey released by online stock trading platform TD Ameritrade showing attitudes of 3,054 American Generation Z and millennial consumers (aged 15-28) towards marriage.
Two-thirds of young Americans believe an engagement ring should cost less than US$2,500, almost half of the national average engagement ring cost based on the Real Wedding Study conducted by the Knot last year. Merely less than 20 percent respondents’ expected price is similar to the national average cost. Millennials are relatively willing to spend more on engagement ring than Generation Z.
The survey finds that the expectation gap between men and women closes with young generations. 30 percent of both millennial men and women think an engagement ring should cost between US$1,000- $2,499. Learn more about the survey here.
