Signed jewellery sought-after at Paris sale

14-06-2019

The fine jewels auction held by Christie’s Paris yesterday realised a total of 5.9 million euros (US$6.7 million). Eighty-seven percent by lot and 91 percent by value were sold.

The auction house said buyers were continuously eager to acquire signed jewels from big brands, including an 8.94-carat, E VVS2 diamond ring (photo 1) and a sapphire and diamond ring from Van Cleef & Arpels (VCA) (photo 2) respectively sold for 328,000 euros and 237,500 euros, a magnificent diamond choker by Cartier (photo 3) sold for 250,000 euros, and a retro necklace set with cultured pearls and diamonds from Bulgari (photo 4) sold for 193,500 euros.

Creations from local designers such as René Boivin (photo 5) and Suzanne Belperron (photo 6) also attracted enthusiastic bids from the auction floor.

According to Christie’s, the sale confirmed special interest of collectors for bestiary’s jewellery signed by prestigious names, including the fox and cat clips set with rubies, emeralds and diamonds from VCA (photo 7), and an enamel and diamond dog clip from Cartier (photo 8).
