RESOLVE launches the first batch of Salmon Gold, a responsible gold sourcing approach focus on fish habitats restoration in Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and British Columbia in partnership with Tiffany and Apple.
“We want to show that responsible placer gold mining and good habitat restoration can be aligned in the Yukon,” said miner and Salmon Gold partner Peter Wright. Anisa Kamadoli Costa, chief sustainability officer, Tiffany commented Tiffany is committed to safeguarding critical ecosystems. Salmon Gold proves that responsible mining practices and restoration of important ecosystems can go hand in hand. The company is proud to be a part of the project.
Gold mining has damaged the habitats for salmon and grayling. RESOLVE works with local miners, environmentalists, and government agencies to test restoration methods at streams and fish habitats that have been impacted by historical tailings and establish a chain-of-custody for the first batch of Salmon Gold from the mine to manufacturers.
