Taiwanese jewellery designer Anna Hu’s Silk Road Music five-piece-collection inspired by the musical and cultural exchanges that took place on the Silk Road will go under the hammer at Sotheby’s October Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Autumn Sale in Hong Kong.
The highlight is the Dunhuang Pipa Necklace which is transformable into a brooch and an earring and set with a 100.02 carats fancy intense yellow diamond. The piece resembles a lady playing the pipa (a four-stringed Chinese lute depicted on the Dunhuang murals.
“I want this collection to speak to my Chinese roots, and I thought the beauty of jewels could be enhanced with a touch of the traditional yet exotic music that once flowed through the Silk Road,” said Anna Hu.
The collection also includes:
Ellington, a pair of conch pearl, sapphire and diamond earrings
Cello, a fei cui, diamond and pink sapphire brooch
Blue Magpie, a conch pearl, diamond and over-500-gem-set brooch
