On 28 July, the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) announced the winners of 2014 Awards for Excellence during its annual gala in New York, in order to recognize women's achievements in the jewellery industry. The winners in 10 categories are as follows:
1. Design: Heather B Moore, Heather Moore Jewelry
2. Manufacturer/Dealer/Supplier: Chana Regev, Carelle
3. Retail 15+ Doors: Kim Adams, Reeds
4. Retail
5. Retail Non-Traditional: Jennifer (Peck) Arthur, Amazon
6. Sales: Amy Jackson, Fragments
7. Marketing & Communications: Fran Pennella, Benali Consulting
8. Editorial Media: Michelle Graff, National Jeweler
9. Special Services: Desiree Hansen, JCK
10. Watches: Rosanna Sarcona-Doherty, Cartier
In addition, Ruth Batson, executive director and CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, received the Lifetime Achievement Award; David J Bonaparte, president and CEO of Jewelers of America received the Ben Kaiser Lifetime Achievement Award; and Richline Group was given the Corporate Award.
WJA’s president Andrea Hansen expressed: “We congratulate our distinguished 2014 honourees, and celebrates the winners of our Awards for Excellence. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the attendees and sponsors who supported our signature event by their attendance and donations to the gala, silent auction and raffle. Because of you, many more women will receive WJA grants and scholarships to enter or further their careers in the jewellery industry.”
