The Dubai Diamond Conference (DDC) organised by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) welcomed 400 government officials, financiers, retailers and investors last week.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO, DMCC commented on the industry during Inauguration: “Diamond trade is facing pressure from multiple directions, and general sentiment among traders, suppliers, financiers and those in retail, is low to say the least. But if we are to have any chance of success, it will be through facing the facts, understanding the technology shaping manufacturing, analysing shifts in consumer preference and adapting accordingly.”
During the conference, Nemesis International revealed a 313-carat diamond named Constellation 1, the largest graded D-colour diamond on record. The company is planning a roadshow to display it and seven other stones cut from 813-carat Constellation rough around the world.
