'The Art of Jewellery: Traditions and trends' exhibition co-organised by Moscow’s Department of Culture, state-owned Gokhran and Russian Jewellers Guild is running from 8 to 20 October at Moscow State Exhibition Hall "New Manege" to display Russian jewellery.
Divided into two rooms, the first room brings visitors back to the past for more than 220 never seen jewellery from the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation including works of Fabergé, Ovchinnikov, Khlebnikov.
In the modern jewellery section, there are over 200 works including fresh from the oven winning pieces of the Russia 21st Century Jewellery Art Competition. The contest received more than 250 entries from different cities of Russia. Here visitors can also find coins, pocket watches and precious stones mined in Russia: diamonds, emeralds and alexandrites.
During the opening ceremony, the Head of Russia’s Federal Agency of Communications Oleg Dukhovnitsky presented a series of stamp cancels to participants in celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Gokhran. (Photo Courtney: Katerina Perez)
