Diamond technology firm Sarine works with Tiffany to adapt its automated AI-based grading technology to meet Tiffany’s grading guidelines and criteria for colour and clarity.
Back when the technology was debuted in early 2018, the machine learnt from Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading system and grade like the system. Further development and adaptation are required to meet Tiffany's particular standards.
Sarine Technologies CEO David Block said adapting the technology is a non-trivial task and requires a team of gemmologists, scientists and engineers to push the technological envelope even further. However, hard work will pay off as it removes subjective human error and bias from the grading process, which enables a new level of accuracy, reliability and consistency.
