The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) has postponed the summer edition of the International Diamond Week scheduled for 1 to 4 September 2014. Due to the continuing tensions with Hamas, large group of people are not allowed to gather, said IDE in a recent statement.
"In view of the recent events in our region, the board of the Israel Diamond Exchange decided to postpone the Israel Diamond Week, originally scheduled to be held 1-4 September, for several weeks," said IDE president Shmuel Schnitzer.
"Of course, it is unfortunate that our endeavor to create a unique trading platform for international diamond dealers and buyers had to be postponed, but I am confident that we will be successful in the near future. We all look forward to holding the Israel Diamond Week at a time that we can all concentrate on what we do best - conducting our diamond businesses," he added.
According to IDE general manager Moti Besser, messages about the postponement had been relayed to all registered buyers and that the invited guests of honour had been informed in person. "Naturally, we will keep the industry posted with the possible future dates for the Israel Diamond Week," he said.
