Alrosa has been ranked the top 10 of annual Environmental Transparency Rating among mining & metals companies of Russia by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The rating evaluates companies’ efforts on environment, impact and level of disclosures. According to WWF, this year received 27 more companies’ applications. Among 41 companies, four gold mining company and four coal miners are first time participants.
Alrosa spent over five billion rubles for environmental measures in 2018. “We are grateful to WWF Russia for recognizing our efforts in the environmental area. ALROSA is committed to preserving the environment and minimizing any impact on it. Mining in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, reducing energy and water consumption, emissions and waste, and rehabilitating disturbed lands are our constant priorities. We pay great attention to countering climate change by implementing the latest technologies," said Alorsa chief ecologist Polina Anisimova.
