Alrosa sells its 6.21-carat cushion cut fancy intense pink purple diamond to American collector Larry West in an undisclosed purchase price.
The stone was one of the three cut and polished from a 20.18 rough recovered in Yakutia of Siberia in 2017, and the first diamond from Russia that Larry has bought directly from Alrosa. It comes with an electronic place of origin passport that contains a visual history of its extraction and production, and information on its cutter.
Larry, who has been building his collection of extraordinary colour diamonds for four decades and has diamonds featuring in museums like the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, plans to recut and repolish the diamond to enhance its purple colour and clarity, which may remove up to one carat of its current weight. The diamond may be off for sale in jewellery form afterwards.
