The 13th IIJS Signature Gem & Jewellery Show organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) attracted more than 15,000 visitors from over 55 countries and over 700 exhibitors to exhibit across 1,300 booths.
Held from 13 to 16 February at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, the show introduced first-ever “business knowledge forum” and “the artisan awards” and “design inspirations” to provide industry insight as well as the Jewellery Start-Up Zone which promoted emerging designers & women entrepreneurs, artisans and craftsmen.
GJEPC chairman Pramod Kumar Agrawal said there was an influx of international buyers, despite challenges posed by coronavirus and global demand slowdown. The buyers viewed IIJS as an alternative considering the emerging international trade equations and China’s current situation.
Buyers have shown interest and pre-booked orders at the IIJS Signature was a good sign for Indian diamond and jewellery exports. The council hopes the second half of 2020 will perform better than the first half.
