Ernie Blom, who has led the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) as the president for eight years has stepped down temporarily. The WFDB’s executive committee elected the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) president Yoram Dvash acting president in a Zoom meeting.
“Due to medical, family and personal reasons I am unfortunately temporarily unable to continue in office as president at this point, therefore I need to step aside for a period of time,” Ernie stated in a letter without an exact returning date. The resignation comes after Ernie's company, Ernest Blom Diamonds has been involved in a legal dispute with the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a WFDB member, over the jurisdiction of an arbitration.
WEDB has purchased IDI’s Get Diamonds platform for US$5,000 this month. Under Yoram, the federation will carry on the platform enhancement. It will debut with 622,000 listings and targets to reach800,000 to 900,000 soon.
