Despite the easing threat of the coronavirus pandemic across the world, the long-awaited twin shows organised by the Hong Kong Trade development Council (HKTDC) were officially cancelled due to the extended compulsory quarantine regulation in the city.
According to the circular HKTDC sent to exhibitors last Friday, the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show rescheduled for 3-6 August 2020 “could not be held” under the Compulsory Quarantine of Persons Arriving at Hong Kong from Foreign Places Regulation which has been extended to 18 September 2020. The organiser said “exhibitors with confirmed location in the original March 2020 can retain their original booth size and location if they continue to join the show held in March next year”.
To help exhibitors explore B2C business opportunities, HKTDC has considered to host a lifestyle public show together with other consumer products such as beauty, wellness and food in August targeting local consumers as well as those from Greater Bay Area “if mandatory quarantine is lifted with Guangdong” by that time. Details will be announced later.
