A 28.86-carat D-colour emerald-cut diamond ring is hammered for US$2.1 million at Christie’s online auction ran 16-30 June, setting a record for jewellery sold in a virtual auction.
The diamond received 31 bids from four countries.“The sale of this exceptional stone established the record for a jewel sold in an online-only auction, demonstrating greater client confidence in Christie’s digital ability and online sale platform,” said Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s international head of jewellery.
Four auctioned jewellery that scored the highest price after the 28.86-carat diamond were all from Graff: a 46.57-carat diamond necklace, 40.86-carat Ladygraff diamond watch, Butterfly pink sapphire and diamond watch and a diamond and sapphire necklace.
