Magnificent fei cui, as always, stole the limelight at Tiancheng International’s jewellery auction held on 7 July 2020.
An extraordinary fei cui bangle (photo 1) of luminous emerald green colour with a lustrous sheen fetched HK$3.6 million or US$462,000 after rounds of fierce biddings. Different from traditional rod-shaped bangle, this one features a flattened interior rim offering extra comfort for wearing. A group of icy fei cui jewellery (photo 2) comprising a necklace, earrings, a ring and a bangle was sold for HK$2.76 million.
Emerald, another sought-after green gem for jewellery collectors, came as a star at the sale. For instance, a 10.07-carat natural untreated Colombian emerald ring (photo 3) garnered HK$1.8 million.
Managing director of Tiancheng International Wang Jie and head of jewellery department Connie Huang said that the coronavirus pandemic did not discourage collectors from bidding for exceptional jewellery. Those who could not attend in person had taken part in the sale actively via telephone or commissioned bids. (Photo courtesy: Tiancheng International)
