De Beers has invested in Gemist, a United States-based digital jewellery brand which gives customers the opportunity to design their own jewellery piece online that provides innovative retail experience for jewellery shoppers around the world.
From engagement ring to earrings, customers can choose from a list of metals, gemstones and settings on the direct-to-consumer platform. A no-cost silver prototype of the design will be sent. After trying it on, customers can decide whether to buy the final product.
"Gemist is a first-mover in offering Gen Z and Millennial consumers a unique shopping experience with fully customizable designs through a simple, engaging and fun platform – key features we know these consumers are looking for," said Neil Ventura, executive vice president of strategy and innovation at De Beers.
