Gemfields releases a 44-piece collection in support of Space for Giants’ Walk for Giants, a fundraising and awareness-building campaign for African wildlife conservation.
The 44 jewellery pieces are all mounted with the brand’s Zambian emeralds and Mozambican rubies. Bringing creations of 12 of its partnering jewellery brands such as AYA and Margery Hirschey together, the collection is not limited to jewellery from earrings to bracelet.
British watchmaker Backes & Strauss has launched a stunning timepiece attaching a natural green mother-of-pearl dial with hand-painted elephant housed inside a diamond case, with bracelet composed of rolls of diamonds weighing 9.55-carat in total and a roll of 34 emeralds totaling 3.93 carats.
“Gemfields has, for more than a decade, walked a trail promoting greater transparency in the mining and selling of Africa’s colored gemstone resources. Today, more emerald- and ruby-derived value than ever accrues to our host countries in Mozambique and Zambia. Africa’s natural resources, whether in the form of her minerals or her biodiversity, must play a greater role in supporting local communities and championing vast conservation spaces,” said Sean Gilbertson, Gemfields CEO.
