Yoram Dvash elected the president of World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) for a three-year term, after being the acting president for six months, during the recent virtual World Diamond Congress.
Entitled “Diamonds in the Next Normal”, the meeting was attended by over a hundred WFDB Young Diamantaires (YD) around the world. During the meeting, Dvash said coronavirus pandemic has made 2020 a very challenging year. However, the core problem is not about the virus. “The industry has been suffering from a lack of profitability, a shortage of financing, and reduced demand,” Dvash elaborated.
He urged industry player to transform to meet the demands of the 21st century. That means adopting the values of the day — transparency, sustainability and consumer confidence. The industry should work as a whole with regulators to create rules and measures that benefit all.
