National Retail Federation (NRF) encourages consumers to shop safe and shop early this holiday season across digital, social media, radio and connected TV between October and mid-November in key markets of the United States.
“In a year that has been full of uncertainty, we encourage consumers to avoid the last-minute stresses of the holiday season like long lines and shipping delays. Retailers are ready with inventory and sales, and there’s no reason to wait until Thanksgiving weekend to kick off your gift shopping,”NRF president Matthew Shay said.
He added that retailers are prepared for an early start to the shopping season, offering discounts earlier to ensure consumers can find the gifts they want, in stock at the price they want to pay, delivered at the time they want to receive them. Amazon Prime Day will kick off early this year on 13 October.
Historically, November is the most popular month to start holiday shopping. 43 percent of holiday shoppers surveyed by NRF are waiting until November to start buying. 59 percent plan to shop online. Deloitte said consumer's focus on health, financial concerns and safety will result in a shift in the way they spend their holiday budget, with predication of e-commerce sales growth by 25-35 percent yoy during the approaching holiday season.
