At the Sotheby’s Hong Kong magnificent jewellery and jadeite sale held on 7 October, the highlighted lot, a ring set with an 8.41-carat vivid purple-pink diamond mounted by Sotheby’s Diamonds achieved HK$137.88 million, marking a new world auction record for a fancy vivid pink diamond.
The auction witnessed consecutive per-carat price records for a Kashmir sapphire, first with a Cartier sapphire ring at HK$1.5 million per carat then with a sapphire and diamond ring at HK$1.8 million per carat.
An icy multi-coloured jadeite Guan Yin ornament fetched HK$14.44 million.
The sale totaled HK$584 million.
