Alrosa and De Beers have released their dates for next year’s diamond sales, holding10 sights and 12 auctions respectively.
De Beers also revealed its revenue from rough diamonds at US$2.72 billion in 2020. Despite its sale result is almost half less than 2019, the group’s CEOBruce Cleaver said: “the diamond industry ends the year on a positive note, we must recognise the risks that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic presents to sector recovery both for the rest of this year and as we head into 2021.”
Alrosa echos the optimistic sign. “Demand for rough diamonds from our key clients in November remained strong enough as they bring their stocks to the normal levels amid the seasonal growth in demand for diamond jewellery in the USA and China,” the miner’s deputy CEOEvgeny Agureev noted. Sales of rough and polished diamonds in November totalled US$390.5 million.
