The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) recertifies Alrosa’s supply chain is in compliance with RJC Code of Practices (COP) updated in 2019.
The audit includes provisions of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals and covered the practices of ensuring working conditions for its employees, their labour rights and freedoms, labor safety and health, environmental protection, anti-corruption and a responsible diamond supply chain.
Alrosa obtained the certification for three years, the maximum period granted by the RJC. Peter Karakchiev, its head of the international relations department noted that Alrosa is one of the first companies in the industry to fulfil the requirements of the updated RJC Code of Practices.
The RJC COP defines the requirements for establishing responsible business practices throughout the jewellery supply chain, from mine to retail. The COP provides a common standard for ethical, social, human rights and environmental practices, and COP certification is mandatory for all RJC commercial members. COP certification provides a strong system for assuring stakeholders, shareholders, customers and business partners that a company conducts its business responsibly.
