Jewellery brands Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier and watchmaker Rolex and Patek Philippe list the top 10 luxury brands with highest resale value in 2020, according to the first ever luxury consignment report by luxury resale e-platform The RealReal.
Ranked as the second highest resale value brand, Van Cleef & Arpels’ iconic four-leaf clover motif Alhambra Collection sold for 86 percent of its original retail price. A whopping 90 percent of the pieces sold within 30 days. The Cartier Love collection and Tiffany & Co. T collection earned 78 percent and almost 70 percent of its original retail price respectively.
Its director of fine jewellery & watches Patricia Stevens pointed out that shoppers also go after jewellery that stand out on-screen in video calls. Statement logo jewellery by Louis Vuitton noted a 23 percent growth in average sale price yoy.
For the watch category, the average sale price soared 26 percent from the first to second half of 2020. The RealReal highlighted that Patek moved up three spots to seven following Rolex. The most expensive watch among all was Patek Philippe Nautilus 5722G sold at US$117,995.
