Mike Bowers, the owner of the agate geode resembles Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster has received five offers for the rare rock up to US$10,000.
The California mineral collector said that it was uncommon to a face shape in agates, rather than a cloud. The feature makes it even more unusual is the face that appears on both sides of the clear-cut stone. He explained the voids usually do not line up so neatly to create a mirror image.
Uncovered in November in Soledade of Brazil, the egg-size agate was sold to Brazilian gemologist Lucas Fassari in batch then to Bowers. The footage has taken over the online world after Bowers posted on Facebook.
Bowers said: “I think this is probably the most perfect Cookie Monster out there. I have seen others but here you have it complete (both sides).” He plans to keep the remarkable rock for now.
