Incorporating five live and online auctions, Christie’s Geneva Spring Luxury Season has achieved a running total of CHF86,539,955 or US$95,193,950 to date, with the online watch sale ‘Watches: The Geneva Edit’ still open for bidding.
One of the three live auctions, the Magnificent Jewels held yesterday achieved a total of CHF 57, 755,750 with a sell-through rate of 91 percent by lot and 98 percent by value. Claiming the leading lot was the 100.94-carat D IF diamond, ‘The Spectacle’ (photo 1), sold for CHF 12,840,500. The nine-piece collection from Emperor Napoleon’s adoptive daughter Stephanie de Beauharnais, Grand Duchess of Baden, including the important sapphire crown of Maria II Queen of Portugal (photo 2), was 100-percent sold with a total of CHF3,286, 250.
Another live auction, Rare Watches, achieved a total of CHF22,936,500 with 94 percent sold by lot and 98 percent sold by value. An 18-karat pink gold Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph Ref 1518 (photo 3) realised CHF1,350,000, making it the top lot of the sale.
