Alibaba’s sales in China totaled RMB 57.112 billionon Singles’ Day, which is also called Anti-Valentine’s Day that takes places every 11 November in China. Alibaba stated that it shipped RMB 1.707 billion orders that day, 42.6 percent of which were placed through mobile devices.
Blue Nile participated in this year’s sale on Tmall Global, Alibaba’s platform for brands, by offering diamond and gemstone jewellery, according to an Alibaba blog.
The blog said that Blue Nile executives were comfortable with cutting prices for Chinese consumers during the Singles’ Day. They had done price-cutting on Cyber Monday in the United States numerous times.
Eight Chinese jewellery brands also participated, including Chow Tai Fook,Tesiro, Baocheng and Kela.
