Jewelers of America (JA) announces John J. Kennedy, Jewelers’ Security Alliance (JSA) president, the receiver of the GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement at its annual GEM Awards taking place virtually on 15 July.
Kennedy has been president of the 138-year-old JSA for 29 years. The non-profit trade association works closely with the FBI and police to help its 20,000 members avoid burglary, robbery and theft. Prior to the position, he served as assistant commissioner and deputy general counsel of the New York City Department of Investigation and assistant counsel of the New York State Commission of Investigation.
The GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement honours individuals for a career’s worth of contributions to the fine jewellery and watch industry. “John has been dedicated to improving the industry in every way, not only in all matters of security but in the spirit of improvement for business success in all facets of the industry. He has made a positive impact for retailers and manufacturers and continues to strive to make the industry a safe place for all,” said JA president and CEO David J. Bonaparte in a statement.
