Cambodia announced an official launch of its first commercial gold mining is set to start operations in the Okvau area in southwestern Mondulkiri province's Keo Seima district on 21 June, after 14 years of exploration and research by Australian miner Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia), which will lead the operation.
According to the company’s assessment, three tonnes of pure gold can be produced per year for the first eight years of operation. It expects to generate gross revenue of US$185 million annually with US$ 40 million of constant expenditure to the local government as royalties and taxes.
The licence has an initial 15-year period with the right to two renewals of up to 10 years for each in accordance with Cambodian laws.
