Baselworld will rebrand into HourUniverse and take place from 31 March to 4 April next year, after a two-year rest.
In a statement, the organiser MCH Group said it would be a B2B platform in the mid-and high-end segment for the global watch, jewellery and gemstone industries. Baselworld managing director Michel Loris-Melikoff said: "We took a lot of time to talk to our partners and exhibitors. One thing became very clear: the Baselworld brand must remain, but it must fundamentally change."
Hosted by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), Watches & Wonders 2022 will hold almost in parallel with HourUniverse from 30 March to 5 April in 2022.
The last Baselworld was held in 2019. Its 2020 edition was postponed to 2021 and eventually axed due to major exhibitors such as Rolex, Patek Philippe and Chopard ditching the show.
