Alrosa’s rough and polished diamond sales in June 2021 fetched a total of US$410 million. Deputy CEO Evgeny Agureev says rough demand remains high driven by strong jewellery demand and low rough stocks.
According to the Russian miner, proceeds from rough and polished diamond sales in June were US$374 million and US$36 million respectively, making up a total of US$410 million. Over the first six months of the year, total rough and polished diamond sales accounted for US$2,336 million, including US$2,229 million of roughs and US$106 million of polished diamonds.
“Demand for rough diamonds remains high. Diamond jewellery enjoy strong demand across all the key markets while rough diamond stocks at the Indian mid-stream segment are kept low. At the same time, miners’ rough stocks hit a rock bottom levels as supply structurally dropped at a number of assets. Like for like price index for rough diamonds has significantly recovered year-to-date to pre-Covid level,” said Agureev. (Photo courtesy: Alrosa)
