The Christmas business is extremely crucial for global jewellery and watch makers. According to the Federal Association of Jewellers, Jewellery and Watch Retailers, Germany, two thirds of the gifts are purchased in December, cited by Messe München GmbH, organizer of Inhorgenta Munich. A survey conducted by the German Retail Federation suggests the 2014 jewellery and watch sales forecast will be on last year’s level when the share of jewellery and watches in last November and December accounted for 21.9 percent of the annual sales.
The Munich jewellery show says timeless classic and gold jewellery are among the most popular gifts for Christmas 2014. Jewellery set with coloured stones, pearls, or solitaire stones is sought-after for the season. For the watches segment, multifunction and wearables are the order of the day. Classic timepieces in gold or rose gold are particularly well-liked by ladies.
